In the 1960s, Mr. du Pont wanted to extend the season of color at Winterthur so he added a new garden area, now called Sycamore Hill. In late May and early June, Sycamore Hill is woven together with paths of white, lavender, and red flowers. This color combination appears at Winterthur earlier in the year with azaleas and dogwoods and again in the fall with berry color.
