Easter weekend is a wonderful time to see the Winterthur Garden: the daffodils are coming on strong, magnolias are glorious, the cherries are puffy pink clouds and new paths are mown in the meadows ready for a spring hike.
My favorite cherry floats near Magnolia Bend. It has a strong dark branch almost parallel to the ground; under it sits an inviting bench for an afternoon intermission.
On the March Bank, windflowers and bluebells are opening. Winterhazel Walk is at peak with soft pink rhododendrons layered against billows of yellow-green. The sundial garden begins its progression of bloom with saucer magnolias and hints of pink in flowering quince.
