Ellen Taviano at the museum store asked me if the garden guides could select a new plant each week – their “plant pick of the week.” Of course! So, we started it today. Check out the wonderful plants at the museum plant shop including Ed Stevenson’s pick of the week, Brunnera macrophylla or Siberian bugloss. Sometimes called a false forget-me-not, Ed grows it in his garden and enjoys it at Magnolia Bend.
Siberian bugloss does well in shade and spreads by seed. The flowers last a long time and provide a dainty blue in a woodland garden. There is a variegated form called “Jack Frost,” but Ed prefers the straight species.
Here it is in the museum store and at Magnolia Bend:
Stay tuned for a new garden guide pick-of-the-week each Thursday during April and May. Let us know if you like it – maybe we’ll continue into June!
