Make plans to come see the azaleas in the Winterthur Garden soon. They are almost at peak in Azalea Woods – fully out in the Reflecting Pool Garden (“Coral Bell”) and Enchanted Woods (“Firefly” and “Hinodegiri”). The Quarry Garden floor is covered with vibrant primroses with the delicate bright white of dogwood floating above. Come to the paradise garden of Winterthur this weekend!
Be sure to walk along the March Bank where you’ll see ostrich ferns just unfurling interplanted with Virginia Bluebells – stunning! Many, many plants are in full bloom. Our wonderful volunteers who track bloom each week are up to 10 pages of flowers and still writing! Be sure to show your membership card or display a paid admission tag as you enjoy this beautiful treasure.
(Insider tip: ask at the ticket counter at the visitor center about the double admission deal with Longwood Garden – good only until the end of April! This is the weekend to see Azalea Woods.)

Karen,
Do you think the azaleas will still be at peak bloom on Sat. May 1st? We don’t want to miss them but this weekend is difficult for us, given the distance from Brooklyn. Also, it’s supposed to be chilly this weekend but warmer the next, although there is a prediction of showers both times. Thanks.
- Jerrold
I just visited Winterthur and saw Winterthur azaleas and peonies. Are they for sale anywhere?
Sheila, we will have a limited number of our azaleas available this Saturday at the Museum Store. For the most part though, they are unavailable. -Chris
