Wednesday at Winterthur – July 25, 2012
11:30 am, please meet at the Visitor Center Patio, then in the Rotunda
Begin in the Rotunda with an illustrated presentation on the history of country house weekends, especially at Winterthur, by Jeff Groff, director of public programs. His talk will draw on archival images and explore both the “Upstairs” and “Downstairs” aspects of entertaining on a large scale, from the arrival of the guests through the myriad of weekend activities. Weather permitting, we will walk to the house, down to the Reflecting Pool, and back past the Coach House to explore Winterthur’s outdoor entertaining spaces.
Join us for demonstrations, talks, and guided walks covering a wide range of gardening topics. These events begin at 11:30 am on Wednesdays from April through October (except August). Included with all admission tickets, members free.
Walks last 45-60 minutes. No reservations necessary. Please dress for the weather and wear walking shoes. Walks are generally not handicap accessible due to rough and steep garden paths.
