Had a nice encounter with two members who had walked the Winterthur Garden this morning and were much taken with a lovely plant that they couldn’t identify. They described it as “like a Jacob’s Ladder” but with little spotted purple and white flowers, seen around the Glade Garden. With their clear description, I was certain they were describing the “Japanese Toad Lily” or Tricyrtis. It’s a wonderful shade-loving plant with loads of flowers in the autumn. Take a stroll near the Glade Garden and look for this lovely woodland flower. (And take a look at the work going on in the lower Glade Garden. Our masons are hard at work improving that area for safety and beauty.)
