This morning we held a training session for guides who interpret Enchanted Woods, either from the garden tram, on garden walks, or during school garden programs. What a day to be in the Winterthur Garden! We learned from Terry Colonna, specialist garden guides, about the plants and planning of Enchanted Woods.
We looked at the partial haiku engraved at the mouth of th S-S-Serpentine Path by Yosa Buson who lived from 1716 to 1783:
Plum blossoms here and there –
It’s good to go north,
good to go south.
