On October 6, 10:00 am–4:00 pm, celebrate fall and the history of farming at Winterthur with a full day of fun-filled activities at our first annual Truck and Tractor Day. Kids will be able to climb on and explore more than 30 antique and modern farm vehicles as well as the Winterthur fire trucks. Kids will not only meet our firemen but they can play “dress up” with firefighter gear, put out a “fire” with the pumper truck, and even get their own helmets and badges!
Kids will also meet local farmer Drew Smith, who will introduce them to his team of draft horses and show them an original tractor. They can explore farm equipment, learn how a modern backhoe and crane work, and even milk a mechanical cow! The fun continues with a great fall tradition—a hayride that will take you through the majestic Winterthur landscape ablaze with fall colors. Don’t miss out on the farm- and tractor-related arts and crafts in the newly opened Brown Horticulture Learning Center, which was generously funded by a gift from Alice Cary Brown and W. L. Lyons Brown. Before you leave, take a family photo in our fall-themed photo area—just in time for your holiday cards! Barbecue and ice cream will also be available to purchase, capping off a full day of outdoor autumn activities in a beautiful country setting. Proceeds support the Winterthur Fire Company. Find out more. Members free. Included with admission.
