Nature and the garden have the capability of inspiring us all. Here is an example of how it inspired horticulturist Jim Pirhalla–in memory of his father, who was born on a Christmas Day.
In the month of December
As the days begin
Winds of the North
Lay cause to whisper and sing
Through the pines
And the soft, subtle ring
Of poor Sam Peabody
And the red tail on the wing
Circling in the sky
Falling snowflakes bring
A spreading, sudden stillness
Welcoming the rites of winter in
All in the month of December
