This last spring Winterthur hosted a photography workshop with teacher and photographer Allen Rokach. Allen’s students spent two days exploring Winterthur and, with the help of his artist’s eye, captured beautiful moments in our chilly April garden. All of the images below have been provided courtesy of the students (and Allen) for this gallery. Over the rest of the summer I will continue to post galleries of their creative images.

This September we will be welcoming Allen back for another lecture on photography. He’ll be joining us at GardenFair on September 28th as we explore the theme ’Artist and Gardener.’ Allen will show lecture attendees how to expand their imagination by looking at flowers and gardens in fresh and unusual ways. Beginning Friday, June 20, you can pick up your copy of Playing in the Garden, a compilation of original music inspired by the Winterthur Garden featuring an eclectic mix of classical, jazz, folk, Celtic, contemporary, and pop.

Brandywine Prime in Chadds Ford hosted the CD release party on Friday, June 13, where over 100 guests came to meet the artists and listen to live music by Chris Braddock and Cloud 9, who are also featured on the compilation.  View the party pictures on http://flickr.com/photos/phengo.

Save the date for GardenFair

September 26-28, 2008

In preparation for their display at GardenFair, the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators have been invited to participate in a special Paint-Out this Sunday, May 18 to paint, photograph, and illustrate throughout the day. Beginning at 10 am, visitors can take the guided garden tram tour and see these artists at work in the Winterthur Garden!
